HIgh: I hope the individual with this has already been treated or is about to be treated either by open surgery or with a "stented graft".  Aneuryms of the aorta tend to have 2 "growth" phases - the first is very slow, the second rapid.  Typically, the risk of rupture is determined by the largest diameter - either transverse or ap ( anterior to posterior ) which is either 13 or 8.8 !

You are worried.: Since you are worried now, you should see your doctor.  If there is reason for concern, abdominal ultrasound is an easy and reliable way to identify abdominal aneurysms.

Not likely.: it is not unusual to be able to see a pulse in the abdomen if you are very thin, particularly in young people. An aortic abdominal aneurysm would be extremely unusual in a 22-year-old. Good luck.

No, but: We don't see a lot of abdominal aortic aneurysms, but they are more common in men who have smoked.  Preventive medicine guidelines suggest that all men who have smoked get a screening abdominal ultrasound at 55.

No: This is a visual inspection of the inside of your esophagus, stomach, and duodenum.  Other abdominal structures, including the aorta are not visualized with this test.

Physical exam: Report any family history and your own observations.
Ultrasound, ct scan or mra may define or identify such lesions and extent.
