i have had some pain&swelling on the left side of my abdomen, between my ribcage and hip bone, like a small bagel, seems worse when i drink coffee?

Gastritis?: Sounds like that could be gastritis.  Or a stomach ulcer.  Try to stop drinking coffee for a little while and see if it heals up.  If not, try Prevacid (lansoprazole) OTC.  If that doesn't help in a couple of weeks, see a GI doctor for some testing.

i noticed i have what feels like swelling right below both side of my ribs right above my abdomen. also not sure if its related but everytime i eat i feel like my food gets stuck in my throat even have a hard time drinking after this happens.

Gastroenterologist: I recommend consulting a gastroenterologist. You may be dealing with an hiatal hernia or esophageal motility disorder.

Liver Inflammation: With Epstein-Barr virus can come inflammation of your liver.  It will usually resolve as you recover from the virus.  However, it will be important for your doctor to follow you to be sure it resolves.  If it does not, you will need to be worked up for other possible causes.

ct scan to see liver, kidney, maybe bowel. will i see what i need to see w/o drinking barium? looking for stones, kidney swelling, liver issues mainly. no contrast of any kind. is that ok?

Depends: CT scan for abdomen without any contrast can be fine for kidney or stone related issues. To observe bowel pathology or problems barium is recommended. IV contrast enhances the abdominal organs better and is usually recommended for even liver , gall bladder problems.

It is easy to find o: Kidney failure may or may not cause swelling. But it is easy to check your kidney function with a simple blood test. It is called blood creatininnie level...Normally it is, 1.5mg. If it is 2 mg or over, that means the kidneys are no longer functioning normally.

ADH (vasopressin) hormone.: Alcohol, especially in women, has the ability to cause swelling of the hands and feet. This has to do with its effect on a hormone in the blood stream. Having said that, there are many other causes for swelling. The concern is the long term effects of alcohol on the both the liver and the kidney.

Midleft abdominal: Symptoms in that area are usually caused by gas buildup in the colon which takes a 90 degree turn in the left upper abdomen. Other possibilities include diverticular problems or inflammatory bowel disease in the descending colon and irritable.bowel syndrome. I assume you have no hernia or adhesions from prior abdominal surgery. Consult a physician, gastroenterologist or surgeon as needed for evalu

: The lower left side of the abdomen contains Large intestine and Colon. Swelling and pain could be caused by constipation, Irritable bowel disease, gastroenteritis (infection) or Diverticulitis. Short list.: Painless mass in rlq?  Could be a tumor of some sort.  In females i would be concerned about ovarian and uterine issues.  If it comes and goes it is not likely of consequence and may be due to air in your bowels.

Accepted Answer

Yes but is atypical : Costochondritis or inflammation of the cartilage around the rib cage and sternum may cause swelling.  I would expect the site of inflammation to be painful and swollen (point tenderness and swelling).  This diagnosis may also cause back and abdominal pain, also known as referred pain.  However, true abdominal pain should also be observed for worsening as it can be from other causes.
