Midleft abdominal: Symptoms in that area are usually caused by gas buildup in the colon which takes a 90 degree turn in the left upper abdomen. Other possibilities include diverticular problems or inflammatory bowel disease in the descending colon and irritable.bowel syndrome. I assume you have no hernia or adhesions from prior abdominal surgery. Consult a physician, gastroenterologist or surgeon as needed for evalu
