Multiple things: First assess your weight & exercise routines.  Do you smoke? If a couch potato, smoke & overweight you need to correct all! in addition, core exercise & flexibilty along with cardio workouts will help.  Otc medication & heat may benefit as can a back support. You may need an evaluation to see that pain is not referred from other area:  ie a urinary issue like infection, GI issue or gynecologic one.

Get evaluated: This could be simply kidney stones lodged in your urinary tract  &amp; the pain will persist until they pass or you get them treated. It can also be something worse.

May need to be : More proactive with daily exercise in terms of flexibility, core work & cardio while limiting prolonged positioning. If overweight, get trim and if you smoke stop as both accelerates disc degeneration.  You may want to try otc medication if no contraindications and if no better, see your physcian  for evaluation and further treatment recommendations, ie. Medication , physical therapy etc.

Back Pain: The best way to know how to relieve back pain is to determine the cause. This requires medical evaluation. In the meantime, there are many options.  Stretching, heat from a shower or heating pad (be careful to avoid getting burned), massage, manipulation/ alignment ; acupuncture are some of those. Take care.

Need More Info: Many causes and i assume no previous injury that left damage.  I would ask yourself if your posture is good (sitting in chair are your knees slightly higher than your bottom, is your back solidly against the chair, is your chair ergonomic?) if you are half hunched over for long periods lower back can be very sore. Next take a break every hour for a few minutes and stretch or do yoga pose for backs.
