my son had a hand surgery and the pins should've been removed by december 7th. he has been unable to get themremoved and now he has some drainage. what do i do?

Infection is likely : And it could be severe !. Call the surgeon 2, if you can't get in touch with a surgeon seek medical attention. An infection in a pin in a finger needs antibiotics and may need surgical debridment, the pins have been in too  long and your son can get osteomyelitis, a severe bone infection, that takes a long time to get rid of. Do not wait or fool around with this, get seen. Call the surgeon.

tore my ulna collateral ligament pitching 2 years ago, been playing for 1 year now after surgery, still get numbness in wrist. normal?

DEPENDS WHERE NUMB: If the numbness is toward the ring finger and little finger, then it is probably related to the surgery.  Grip weakness - involves that same nerve. That would be an issue to be further evaluated.  If the numbness is thumb + index + middle finger, it would not be related to the surgery.  Further evaluation is necessary (such as ruling out Carpel Tunnel Syndrome)

i have gone wrist (plate on radius) and humorus (rode implant) fracture surgery, now going through pt for gaining supination-pronation. i'm getting swelling around ulna with sharp pain, please suggest.... how long it would take to get in normal motion for

May not get all moti: You may not obtain all of your motion back
but if you are getting sharp pain you should
see your surgeon
you may have a problem related to the fracture or the fixation of the fracture ie.
Plate/ screws
you need to get checked out and most likely continue your pt.

Elevate: First elevate the hand above heart level, second make sure there are no tissue compression by cast  and contact your surgeon. Depending on the degree of edema he will make appropriate recommendations.

What is better?: Some extra fingers are functional, others are just extra appendages. Depending upon appearance, hand surgery may improve function and/or appearance.  Consult a hand surgeon to evaluate your options.

Avoid the Sun.: Avoid sun exposure, and use sunscreen if you are stepping outside.  Keep away from swimming-- especially in the ocean--until the scab has fallen away. Be vigilant for signs of infection (redness, increased pain, drainage, warmth).  Once scab has fallen away, a topical cream like Mederma has improved many of my own scars.
