Teitching: The twitching may be reflexive but it might also represent seizure activity.. Discuss the problem woth your pediatrician. He may want to order aneeg.

No it's not norm: But neither is the context in which it is occurring.  Respect your body.  I think it is telling you that perhaps the coffee, lack of exercise,  rest,  and excelling in your grades, may not be as important as you might think.    That being said I don't think your concerns warrant an immediate consultation.   I wouldn't be surprised if a good massage to loosen your neck muscles would help!

Normal: It is normal to have these twitches while falling asleep or relaxing. They are called Myoclonus and if they are brief and in those circumstances they are normal and not to worry about.

my 4 year old has a bad cold and iv tried everything i can,even prescription meds from her last cold. i have equate multisyomtom cold stuff like theraflu. can i give her just a little bit for her cough so she can sleep without being woken up from it?

: You are expecting too much from medications; the best thing to help her is to give lots of warm liquid like in soup, tea, chocolate drinks with milk when going to bed. It helps to improve the ease of coughing out the mucus and the germs. It may help her immunity. The cough syrup are not as good as you think; with side effects especially when it is better to cough up the mucus.

broken light sleep with vivid dreams, wake up every hour, small pupils, muscle twitches for last 2 months. 25 years old. do i have fatal insomnia?

Difficulty falling: asleep is often associated w/anxiety while waking up early and not returning to sleep is associated w/depression.  Periodic waking is associated w/overall light sleep.  Please see you doc who may order a sleep study.  A psychologist can help w/stress management.   Natural treatment includes melatonin supplement but w/professional guidance.  Stop all stimulants after noon. Insomnia not fatal.

Not necesarily: Many of us twitch occasionally in sleep. It is called benign sleep myoclonus. If you have other concerns or signs or this in not a simple random event, discuss it all with your doc.

Hemochromatosis?: High ferritin may be a sign of hemochromatosis, a disease of excess iron storage in liver and other organs. If diagnosed and treated early, its serious complications (cirrhosis and heart and gonadal failure) can be prevented or reduced.  I recommend you see a hematologist.

my 4 year old daughter suffers from chronic reflex which manifests as coughing & disturbs her sleep. what can we do?

Has she seen GI?: I would advise that your daughter be seen by a gastroenterologist for evaluation of her symptoms.  There are medications that can be used to help alleviate the symptoms.  In addition, elevating her head at night may provide some symptomatic relief.  Working to find the cause and prevent symptoms would be my recommendation for long-term care.

my 4 year old constantly grinds/grits his teeth in his sleep. what could be the reason for this?

Accepted Answer

Normal: Many children grind their teeth at night. It is not uncommon or concerning under ten years old unless your child is literally grinding down his teeth. You can have him checked for pinworms as well..It is not a myth. The worms irritate the anus at night and cause itching that leads to grinding. I do not see this as a common cause for tooth grinding but it is worth exploring.
