Gargle.: Most sore throats are a result of viral illnesses and will fully run their course in 7-10 days with the sore throat usually lasting only a few days.  Antibiotics are not usually needed.  Gargle with some warm salt water or try some topical anesthetic spray such as cepacol.  If it does not get better within the next day or so, or you start havig fevers, call up your pcp so that they can see you.

i am 5-6 weeks pregmant and  i have  sore throat  what kind of antibootic should i take?

Perhaps none: The only sore throat for which antibiotics are needed is strep.  This can be diagnosed easily by your pcp and is treated with penicillin which should have no negative effects on your baby.

while you are pregnat is it easier for you to have more sore throat  more frequently i'am in my first trimester and i have been having a lot of sore throats n hoarseness in my voice for weeks now is this something serious

Infections : Infections of this type are not more common in pregnancy. It may be that you had been exposed to someone with an infection recently. Check with your OB if you do not improve over the next week or two. Sometimes it takes a while (several weeks)  for hoarseness to improve after a viral infection. I hope you don't smoke since that can slow healing and be bad for the baby.

Supportive care: It sounds like you have an upper respiratory infection, which is fairly common in pregnancy; it is usually more of an annoyance than anything else.  Due to your pregnancy, it's generally a good idea to avoid using medications if possible; generally safe meds would be tylenol (acetaminophen) and guaifenisen, but discuss with your ob/gyn for an exam and the final ok.

i have a stuffy nose and sore throat, is there any medications or home remedies i can take at 38 weeks pregnant?

Sore throat: If your symptoms are from a cold, a saline nasal spray should help but if you have chronic nasal congestion, rhinocort aqua, a prescription nasal spray, is safe to use during pregnancy. If your symptoms persist, you will need to see an allergist to determine why your nose is stuffy.

hi my husband has a temp of 38 degrees, sore throat, slight dry cough. do we need to test for covid19 ?

COVID 19: COVID 19 Sx's may include fever, cough, feeling tired, shortness of breath, muscle aches, headache, sore throat, chills, chest pain, nasal congestion, loss of taste or smell, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.  I recommend it. Please have him contact his PCM.

daughter of 15 has sore throat/ earache body ache feeling weak temp 38.1, is this a out of hour case or can wait? when is temp high?

Wait, but watch: Based on what you have said, it does not sound to be an out of hours case right now, but keep close watch.  Increasing fever,  pain, shortness of breath, weakness, vomiting, etc. Could change the decision to wait.  The definition of a fever is a body temperature above 38, so this barely qualifies.    How high is high?  A fever above 39.5 would start to qualify as high.

now with fever at 38.7c, bp at 138/86, hr bet 100 to 106. sore throat, painful when swallowing, took 3 paracetamols every 4 hours. should i worry?

Sore Throat: Please get evaluated. Meantime continue gargles,and Ibuprofen when needed.

Pharyngitis: Need culture from throat , if strep needs antibiotic . Pain medication for headache .

2 weeks back my wife had a fever of 38.4 so the work send her for a covid test which came back neg. she was diagnosed with brongites got meds but untill today she is not any beter pain in chest, sore throat, body pains and fever i worried?

Possible pneumonia: The antibiotic may not be effective in treating the infection, please obtain a chest image and a follow up appointment with your physician. Influenza and COVID 19 should be ruled out. Another culture of the throat and respiratory secretions is indicated. Your physician will discuss the medication and any changes in treatment. I would suggest adding another antibiotic and testing.
