Gargle.: Most sore throats are a result of viral illnesses and will fully run their course in 7-10 days with the sore throat usually lasting only a few days. Antibiotics are not usually needed. Gargle with some warm salt water or try some topical anesthetic spray such as cepacol. If it does not get better within the next day or so, or you start havig fevers, call up your pcp so that they can see you.
