Breast biopsy/gold: Breast tissue biopsy by fine needle or excision is the best way to know what is cancer and what is not and is the "gold standard" for diagnosis. Unless the hypoechoic nodule turns out to be a cyst, then physicians prefer not to speculate on ultrasound findings about cancer presence.

No,: But blood tests can help determine higher or lower risks. This needs to be either removed surgically or watched with ultrasounds VERY closely. As these features can be very worrisome.  Close followup with your doctor, surgery likely, second opinion with gynecology/oncology, if unsure.

The significance: depends on your risk profile(e.g. smoker vs nonsmoker),  clinical scenario, and certain CT characteristics of the nodule.  It is possible nothing needs to be done if you are low risk. pet scan in jan 2013 showed 4 cancerous nodules in lungs from breast cancer. new pet scan july 2013 - lung spots no longer metabolically active; does this mean they are no longer cancerous?

Biopsy: The only way to determine that this is actually metastatic breast cancer would be to perform a biopsy and evaluate if that tissue is breast carcinoma. A pet scan just shows an increase in cellular glucose utilization, but does not tell you anything about the cell type.

i have a very small nodule on the apex of my lung found on chest x-ray my doctor saidit may be scar tissue or a blocked bone shadow, it is on the apex and i am 70 years old, is it cancer?

Possible: But more likely not. Further x-ray views or a ct might be helpful. Were you a smoker?

In order: to determine whether the nodule is taller than wide, you need to specify the orientation of those measurements:  Anterior-posterior(AP), transverese(T), and longitudinal.  If the AP/T ratio is greater than 1, the nodule is taller than wide.  An A/P &gt;1 does not necessarily mean cancer, but along with other features, may indicate the need for FNA biopsy.

Probably not: Your physician will address the nodule, perhaps by having a needle biopsy performed. If your calcium is more than very slightly above reference range, and you're not just dehydrated, this deserves a lab workup to be sure you're not walking around with hyperparathyroidism which can make you quite sick. The high TSH also needs evaluation. All three are quite treatable.

my thyroglobulin levels are 999 i'm on medication, does that mean presence of cancer? i have nodules but when checked 2012 they shrunk.

Thyroid cancer: If you don't already carry a cancer diagnosis, your elevated thyroglobulin Is most likely from thyroid destruction from autoimmune thyroiditis from either Graves' disease or Hashimoto's thyroiditis. 97% of all hypothyroid patients have Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Approximately 50 million Americans suffer from this.

could a slow growing nodule on my kidney be cancer? it has been slowly growing for the past 6 years. should i have it removed? only 2.6 cm now

Maybe: A growing nodule, even if slow growing, can be very serious. These are complex issues, and symptoms like these deserve a full evaluation in person by your health care provider.
