Enjoy a cup: Preliminary studies tried to associate small amounts of caffeine with miscarriage. These have since been disproved but like anything else, moderation is the key. It's safe to have up to 2 cups of coffee a day, especially if you experience caffeine headaches from stopping. Enjoy a cup & discuss this and any concerns with your ob. Have a safe pregnancy.

Contact Abortion MD: The oral medication for abortion works best on pregnancies of 8 weeks or less. If "nothing has happened" ;you will need a surgical procedure to terminate the pregnancy.

Accepted Answer

Yes, some: Both Claritin and zyrtec are rated category b for pregnancy.   These antihistamines can be effective and lack the drowsy side effects of medication like benadryl (diphenhydramine).  It would still be a good idea to check with an ob/gyn.

See a doctor: Any time you have vaginal bleeding while you are pregnant, you should see a doctor. You need to be evaluated to see if you have sypmtoms of a miscarriage or another abnormality of pregnancy.

Could be trauma:  Was the fingering vigorous - or unclipped fingernails?  You may have had minor trauma. A number of women have an episode of bleeding early in pregnancy and go on to healthy pregnancies and babies. Please let your OB/GYN provider know if this doesn't resolve fairly quickly.

will stress and anxiety cause any birth defects in pregnancy?  i'm 3 and a half months pregnant. feel better now but now worried if baby is okay?

Yes and no: Stress or anxiety per se will not cause a birth defect.  However if you do not take care of yourself, if you don;t rest, don't sleep, don't eat right, don't gain appropriate weight that can effect the baby and its growth.  Make sure you have people you can talk to that can help you when in need.  Best of luck with your pregnancy

Fertility issues: Unfortunately, this will require an exam and visit to a Fertility GYN MD for yourself, and a Urology MD for your husband for a sperm analysis.  Male infertility issues comprise 40 % of all presenting couples and before you start an expensive workup, he should provide a sperm specimen to rule out his issues first.

Anything is possible: If your periods are very irregular then i can see how this could happen.  Although, most people will know they're pregnant by the time they are 12 weeks along.

Pregnancy: You need to chart your cycles and figure out when you are ovulating. Usually happens at mid cycle. You should try to have intercourse around this day. Talk to your doctor. Take care!
