Depends: If not retained you could repeat right away. 
I usually don't recommend them more than twice a day and usually don't recommend using more than 2-3 days at a time.

Yes: Miralax, (polyethylene glycol) but you need to discuss with your doctor 1st.

See doctor or ED: Your daughter needs medical evaluation. Although unlikely, appendicitis or other serious condition may exist requiring surgical intervention. More likely she is impacted with stool. She may need medical therapy involving stool softeners orally or by ng tube if she can't take the volume orally, and enemas. Please take her to the local emergency department or your doctor as soon as possible.

Paradoxical diarrhea: He may still be constipated. He may have runny stool,around hard retained stool. An enema or stool softener may be necessary

: I would just continue what you are doing. It takes ~4 days for the first med to make it through to the outlet in a constipated kid. Another day or two keeping fluids up and good nutrition &amp; he should do well.

Give fruits/ vegetab: Excessive suppository is not good. It may make him dependent for life. Give him sliced oranges  or watermelon everyday with breakfast and lunch. Give cooked vegetables with dinner, everyday. When he gets enough fiber in his diet, his stooling will improve. If not, please see your Pediatrician who will examine him to confirm that he does not have any abnormality and may then prescribe an oral laxat

Why?: Suppositories should never be a routine method of treating constipation. Dietary fiber, or miralax, (polyethylene glycol) can be used safely for long term management; suppositories cannot.

Yes: Glycerin is an inert substance, so there is no risk of the medication being absorbed into the system. A bigger question though, is why would you use it that often?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily: If you want assistance getting cleaned out the er could do it for you. However, i see no need to go for the extra glycerin suppository. It is irregularly absorbed and not toxic in general. The recommendations are an effort to discourage folks who might depend on suppositories to go.
