my wifes last xray revealed a 2 cm nodule on her lung what could be the causes?

Multiple causes : I'd need to know a lot more about her. Does/did she smoke? Have any chemical exposures? Why did she have the X-ray? Any history of cancer in the past? Does she have fever, chills, terrible night sweats? Weight loss? 2 cm is pretty big. She needs further evaluation.

i have a 2 cm nodule and smaller nodules in my lungs. will be getting a pet scan. how quickly will it spread if it's cancer?

Depends: Cancers spread at different rates. Small cell cancer spreads quickly. Treatment also affects the rate of spread. If the pet scan is positive next step is biopsy.

is a 1.5 cm nodule spiculated lung bad?

Accepted Answer

Possibly: A 1.5 cm spiculated lung nodule should be further evaluated, especially if the patient is a current / former smoker.  Pet scan study might help to determine the metabolic activity of the lesion (higher suv more likely to be a malignancy while lower suv more likely to be benign / reactive).  Biopsy may also be indicated.  Close radiologic and clinical follow up at very minimum.

Depends: The pattern of calcification is important.  Lamellar, popcorn, central, and diffuse homogenous calcification are usually benign.  Anything else that size is very suspicious.

Biopsy: A calcified nodule is likley benign. You need to compare thx xray with an old film of your chest if you have. Ct of the chest is helpful. If any doubt tissue biopsy will confirm the nature of this nodule. If you are not comfortable with the response nothing is wrong with getting another opinion.

have nodules 1.1 cm in upper right lung and 2 nodules 1.4 cm and 8mm in left thyroid all non calcified. what do i do?

See your doctor: Nodules in the lung a very common, almost always benign, but depending on your age, family history, smoking history, and the appearance of the nodules, there are varying means of proving they are benign.  These include everything from doing nothing, to surgery to remove a nodule. I suggest neither of these extremes in your case, but do suggest you see a doctor who sees a lot of nodules.

my ct discovered 6 lung nodules from .2 - .8 cm.  .8 node is calcified, others are not.  discoid atelectasis in the upper right lung.  concerning?

To,observe: Likely benign post inflammatory granulomas and will calcify over time.
Regular cts for a few years will establish this.

. Prior exposure ? Histoplasmosis , farming, digging etc 
do not be a smoker!

suspicious 2.4 x 1.7 cm sub-solid right upper lobe nodule was found in my lung with a ct scan done for something else is this considered large? whats the possibility that this is malignant?

: Lung masses over 3cm are considered malignant until proven otherwise. Your subsolid nodule may or may not be malignant. I would ask the radiologist&amp; a pulmonologist  if a Pet Scan or a lung needle biopsy would be the next advisable test.

Cancer?: Biopsy of what?
Why was scan done? Cough? Coughing up blood or why?
Age?
Smoker?
So if you have lung or other cancer I would also be concerned. I can't tell based on your note.

pt is 65. we are stuck as they reluctant to give chemo due to 5 fu chest tightness .
they are also refusing to ablate or operate. the liver met is single and small and lung nodule is 0.5 cm.  there is a aortocaval node too .should we get a 2 nd opinion?
