had a 24 hour flu bug w/ diarrhea. diarrhea went away for a day & i had normal stool. the day after the diarrhea returned. is this normal for the flu?

Unlikely: Hi, usually the immunity the body generates from the bug that caused the diarrhea is what leads 2 recovery from the infection. So unless your immunity took a hit in 1 day or you got superinfected with another bug the diarrhoea does not recur.In most cases though after a bout of diarrhea pts develop transient lactose intolerance-which causes diarrhea. Avoid milk; dairy ;monitor.See pcp if no change.

my 5 year old had the stomach flu last week, started on monday. she is better, but her stools are very soft and still far more frequent than usual, about 4 to 6 hours after she has eaten, is this normal after a tummy bug?

Yes: It can take a while for things to normalize. I find applesauce, bananas &amp; rice are natural plugs that help firm them earlier.

when i get ill, whether its a sickness bug or cold/flu, it always takes me at least 2 weeks to recover.i always get very weak.how do i recover quicker?

Flu/cold: First off, 2 weeks to recover doesn't sound anything shockingly abnormal. A lot of folks have the acute phase lasting 3-5 days but then it takes a week or two and even longer to tackle the cough and other symptoms. At least in my case it's more than 2 weeks. I've found a good prevention measure - rinsing nose with salt water through neti pot on a daily basis even when you're not sick or even close.

The Flu: If you have the flu hydrate well w water, herbal teas, soup or juice. Drink sufficiently to have pale to light yellow urine. You can use pain relievers like tylenol (acetaminophen) or nsaid’s. Rest a lot! in some situations antiviral medications (tamiflu, relenza, flumadine) may be prescribed within the first couple of days of symptoms to hasten healing or they can be used after flu exposure to prevent illness.

Flu can cause vomiti: Inflenza virus infection can cause vomiting so it does not have to be from another virus
it is from the same influenza virus and is not that uncommon in patients with influenza.

The : The cdc (center for disease contriol) and fda recommends that the flu shot is for everyone.  The great fear is that there may be a flu pandemic, that occurs without warning.
The flu shot is not going to prevent you from having a cold or minor respiratory illness.  It is hoped that it will protect you from the flu, characterized by fever, chills, muscle aches, cough, severe fatigue which might make it bedridden even for weeks.   The flu is often complicated by a secondry bacterial pneumonia which can be lethal. During world war i, the spanish flu killed more soldiers than were killed by bombs, bullets or chemical weapons. It killed healthy soldiers in training camps.  Most people have had colds, few have actually had the flu.
Everyone is different and can opt in or out of getting the flu shot.  
Be safe, get a flu shot.

GI Illness: Roughly speaking, they do mean about the same thing. The symptoms may be: abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, fever, chills, etc. All of the symptoms need not necessarily be present for the diagnosis to apply. The good news is that it is usually self-limited (goes away in its' own).

Flu / influenza: Influenza is primarily a respiratory and not a stomach illness. Flu causes fever, cough, sore throat, sinus pain, muscle aches etc.

Unsure: Need more info. Some viral illnesses can lead to neurologic conditions where numbness can occur. Other infections can do the same. If you are numb, need to have this checked out.
