GI Illness: Roughly speaking, they do mean about the same thing. The symptoms may be: abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, fever, chills, etc. All of the symptoms need not necessarily be present for the diagnosis to apply. The good news is that it is usually self-limited (goes away in its' own).
