what age should a child be allergy tested?  my 1 year old has had 2 allergic reactions and i want to have him tested.

Now: Food allergies have no age limit. Usually environmental allergies can occur later, especially seasonal ones start around 3 or 4, but indoor allergies, such as dust mites and pet dander can occur earlier. I would consult an allergist if you suspect your infant had allergic reactions.

Soy: Soy milk is relatively cheap, it comes fortified, and has many more vitamins and protein content that alternative milks like rice milk. Save those for extreme cases.

: Infants don't have an immune system matured to the point that specific inhaled allergens can be accurately determined. Their congestion is routinely triggered by non-specific airborne irritants like dust/fragrances/pollen/smoke &amp; dozens of other agents.

Probably not: I occasionally use Benedryl in a infant if they get hives with a food reaction. Beyond that, antihistamines have little use in early childhood. Small nasal passages, environmental irritants (fumes, dust, smoke, etc.) and mild infections cause most of the congestion in infants. Antihistamines provide no benefit to these kids.

can i give my 1-year old son children's zyrtec? he seems to be battling seasonal allergies. if so, what's the recommended dosage?

No. : Zyrtec not the good medicine for one year old child. This maybe not the allergy at all. Most likely this is teething syndrome and swelling gums and nasal mucosa because of this. Use nasal washing with normal saline 2 times a day and camomile tea for gums 4-5 times a day. Follow with pediatrician for other medications.

baby has been fed s26 lactose free baby formula (0-12 months) due to allergies since birth, just turned 1 year old, what formula can i give?

? allergies?: Hard to be sure. S26 appears to be a formula based on cow milk protein that has been broken up to where the babies body does not react to any of the proteins.If other solid foods have been added without problems it may be possible at a year to use a soy/almond or other such milk rather than formula as you expand the kids diet. Please coordinate this with his doc.

Possibilities: Eyes can water for many reasons. Foreign material has an irritant effect &amp; the eye will try to flush this with tears. The tear duct could be blocked by debris &amp; this be overflow. A new onset infection can cause both watering &amp; pinkeye. You can tru to flush the eye with artificial tears &amp; press on the inner corner of the lower lid over the tear sac. If it persists, see her doc.

Infant care: Infant is too young for this medication  general use.  Talk to your pediatrition for alternative means of treatment -  look into what may be causing the. " allergy" symptoms . Common household exposures. , dust , animal dander, dust mites , mold  and food groups  can be the culprit to these  " allergy" symptoms especiall if infants symptoms are chronic or recurring. Allergy: The grass and tree allergies usually end about the middle of june. I would continue the allergy medicine until then.
