Don't worry: In general, i tell my patients not to worry about what their tongue looks like. The tongue has an amazing ability to look different at different parts of the day, people often get very concerned about it. If your tongue doesn't hurt or bother you in any way then leave it alone and you will be fine.

Inflamed Papillae: Those red dots are most likely inflamed papillae especially if they hurt. They are typically caused by burns, traumatic injury, eating spicy\hot food or beverages, or accidentally biting your tongue. Smokers commonly get these the dots usually resolve themselves . The white on the back of your tongue may just be bacteria. Try brushing it off, if its painful it may be oral thrush. See dentist.
