Video assisted thoracoscopy
Vats is video assisted thoracic surgery and is often used interchangeably with thoracoscopy. It refers to performing an operation in the chest using small incisions, long instruments, and a camera. It is the thoracic (i.e. Chest) equivalent of laparoscopy.
