Implant radiation
Sources are placed into an internal organ, wither permanently or temporarily. Cervix cancer commonly has "endocavitary" brachytherapy implants as part of curative management. Certain prostate cancers can be treated with radioactive isotopes of iodine or palladium. The idea is surrounding healthy tissue may be spared dose.
