Endoscopic resection or ablation
Endoscopic resection/ablation refers to procedures done through the mouth or rectum, using endoscopes to remove a lesion that may be pre-malignant or in very early phase malignancy. These lesions are confined to the lining of the esophagus or colon - the lining is removed (resection) or burned (ablated), in order to allow for normal lining to heal the defect and should be done only by specialists.
