Fluoxetine
Fluoxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI). SSRI antidepressants increase levels of serotonin in the brain to improve mood and decrease depression symptoms. Antidepressants can be used in women with significant postpartum depression alone or in combination with behavioral therapy. There is a small risk of the medication passing through the breast milk, but in women with moderate to severe depression, the risks of untreated illness are much greater.
