Herpes: SKIN: Herpes is a skin problem. The virus lives in the nerves that innervate the skin where an infection occurred. This is not going to affect other areas of the body such as your kidneys and urinary tract.

Unlikely: Not directly, only when affecting other parts of the body, your body gets too weak to fight, other systems, including the kidneys start failing. Otherwise, herpes doesn't appear to have preference for this system.
