The antifungal agent: Canesten, an "azole" type agent, is effective treatement for candidal infections. It is metabolized by the cytochrome p450 system, specifically cyp3a4 and cyp2a9. And can inhibit metabolism of drugs by these enzymes. Studies to examine impact of canesten on ocps has shown that if anything, ocp hormone levels rise with canesten rx in a dose-dependent manner. It should not decrease ocp efficacy.
