How is phimosis treated?

Topical creams: It is usually treated with topical creams placed on the foreskin directly. These creams may include steroids, antifungal creams, or a combination of both. If all these conservative measures fail, then a circumcision may be necessary.

Circumcision is the: Definitive tretment. Some men and some parents of boys with phimosis prefer a prepucioplasty or dorsal slit, if they wish to preserve the foreskin. Phimosis is normal in all babies and resolves naturally as time goes by, this treatment is in fact no treatment just tincture of time. Steroid cream, such as betaval, is a third option for boys, applied twice daily to phimotic area for 3 months.

See below: Betamethasone cream is very effective for treatment of phimosis in children and adults. It is safe, easy to apply and cost effective. In most published protocols, it is used twice daily for up to 4 weeks. Used as instructed, it will cure or significantly improve the problem in over 70% of patients. Observation, circumcision, stretching, surgical incision (slit), etc are also appropriate.
