How regular: Were your cycles before you were on desogen (ethinyl estradiol and desogestrel)? Most women resume ovulating soon; usually the first month or possibly the second.

A 37-year-old member asked:

I recently had epidural steroid injection and I have a burning pain in groin. Is this normal?

Yes: Within reason. The injection itself may initially irritate the tissues around the nerve and the nerve itself. Especially if you had what is called a transforaminal injection. It sounds as if your injection was given around the 3rd lumbar nerve, right ?
A 40-year-old member asked:

I had my kidney stone removed by scope and stent removed 6 days after. Is it normal to still feel pain?

Not Usually: Typically, after a stone is removed the the stent is removed, the pain goes away almost immediately. Sometimes, there is still some swelling in the ureter that could be giving continued pain or even possible a small stone fragment. I would check with your doctor with the pain persisting that long.

Some tears are repairable. Some have to be removed to prevent locking of the knee. You should be abl

The meniscus functions as a load bearing shock absorber to the knee. Assuming your tear was medial this will accelerate any underlying degenerative condition and can predispose you to early arthritic involvement. Most literature out there would support this statement so disagree with Dr. Ayres on this regard. There are many alternatives to running as this long term is not going to be the best exercise for your knee. We were given a brain so we didn't have to outrun the dinasours. We are not meant for running. Would advise alternative cardio activities for longterm health of your knee such as swimming or biking.

I had oral sex for the first time with a very experienced guy and now I have a sore throat could I have gonorrhea?

Depends : The timing is crucial here. Is the sore throat immediate? Next day? Condoms? Rough or gentle oral sex? Most likely it's not gonorrhea. But it is best to be safe. Did the guy ever have gc? Did he have other std's? If so, you should be checked.

I have hashimoto's thyroiditis with 2 nodules on my thyroid and had a sudden drop in vitamin d- what's going on?

Dr. Cayce Jehaimi

No need for panic: Small thyroid nodules is frequently encountered in people with hashimotos. These nodules seem to be small and of no clinical significance unless size is greater than 1 CM and/or worrisome findings per radiologist. Drop in vitamin d is not related but is certainltly of importance and i'm glad you were screened for. Your sun exposure is likely inadequate and depending on levels you may need suppleme.
