Atleast 21: I would recommand though atleast 30. The regret rate after age of 30 is less than before 30.

Any age: If you are an adult you can get your tubes tied at any age. If you do not have any children, your doctor would want to make sure that you do not intend to have children.

Tubal Ligation & Age: It depends on your insurance - Medicaid will not pay for a tubal ligation for anyone under age 21. If you have other insurance, there should be no age requirement. Some doctors don't like to do it to young women because of their concern for regret, however remember that this is YOUR decision, not your doctor's. If you can't find someone to tie your tubes, seek out a "family planning specialist".

A 21-year-old female asked:

How old do you have to be to get your tubes tied without having kids?

Dr. Byron Hapner

No specific age: It is typically your choice when to have your tubes tied regardless of how many children you have. However, there are studies that suggest women of a younger age (perhaps under 30 years) are more likely to regret their decision later no matter how many children they have had. Also, there are many good forms of reversible contraception to consider.

Possibly: There are procedures to reverse tube tying. The success rate of pregnancy after this procedure ranges from 40-85%, depending on age, type of initial tubal ligation, length of the remaining fallopian tubes, amount of scar tissue in the pelvis, and the surgeon's skill.
