Elusive germ: The blood test is a specific indicator that you have developed antibodies to a specific germ. Herpes can go into hibernation and not be evident to those who do not have outbreaks. There is also some crossover in the strain of herpes that causes cold sores with the one that causes genital disease. Please discuss your concerns with your doc. If not having outbreaks, i would be aware but not worry.
