UTI: Blood in the urine and blood in the semen usually represent some form of infection or irritation. I would bet on prostatitis with bladder infection as the next on the list of possibilities.

Usually not serious: Blood in the semen by itself without any other symptoms is not usually a harbinger of bad things. Of course all men are afraid of prostate cancer, std's or infection. Many urologists will place patients emprically on antbiotics but usually th blood disappears with time.

A 16-year-old male asked about a 17-year-old male:

What does it mean if you find blood in your semen?

See a urologist. : The appearance of blood in the ejaculate is called hematospermia. While usually alarming to patients, the cause is almost always benign. The initial evaluation consists of a history, physical examination, and urinalysis. Semen can be examined under microscopy. Infection & recent biopsy are common causes, but often the cause never found. Fortunately, the condition usually resolves spontaneously.
