Why only a single dose of 800 mg cefixime is recommended for curing gonorrhea? would a repeated dose not have any benefits?

Several antibiotics work well against gonorrhea in single doses, nothing unusual about cefixime. Treatment of choice is ceftriaxone by injection but oral cefixime works well. As it happens, I was the lead investigator on the original research showing the effectiveness of cefixime for gonorrhea.
