Bacteria, viruses, and funguses can live in our bodies endlessly, we actually depend on a number of organisms living comensally inmay body invaginations which keep other oranisms at bay. Ask your doctor again or go for a second opinion. Best wishes Dr Neil

The immune system clears most infections long before a year, but not all of them; some infections are life long. More detail necessary to address your concerns. What is the evidence you have an infection? What symptoms? Fever? Weight loss? Night sweats? What infections have been evaluated so far? Have you seen an infectious diseases specialist?

You have self diagnosed that you have an infection without saying what the symptoms are. If your physical exam and appropriate tests were negative the you dont have any. Try keeping busy or find ways to keep your attention to other things. Good luck
