Odor is generated by the gas produced when germs metabolize/feed on vaginal mucus or anal debris. If odor remains after cleansing the gas or the germs themselves were not completely removed. The vault of both sites is a bountiful source of feeding materials for germs. They may do nothing bothersome than make odor. Sometimes they may cause symptomatic infections.
