A member asked:

Hello my friend has cervical cancer but she says she don't have hpv she says it runs in her family my question is will she have cervical cancer without hpv !? she has given birth to kids too can someone get cervical cancer without hpv!?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cervical cancer is commonly associated with 7 or more strains of HPV, but in some instances no evidence of prior infection is found. We may not have the technology to detect all strains or evidence of all prior infections.
