While using just Clomid, "without gonadotropins" , ovulation may occur, but at age "40", the chances for pregnancy are very reduced, secondary to requirements for viable eggs to ovulate and be viable for fertilization. Successful pregnancy may require a more vigorous hormonal and IVF protocol.
