My friend went to gynecologist to discuss ways to improve sex life. she mentioned that she was advised to read a book regarding (art of pleasure). we were wondering how common is this for a gynecologist to recommend book to someone and should we read?

Yes it is common, as my office used to lend books to patients for just this reason. I hope the Gynecologist listened to your friend carefully and did a thorough physical examination first to rule out any medical or physiological causes of her problem.
