I tested positive for syphillis and completed my course of doxy. i got retested 7 days after i completed meds. my rpr level was tge same before treatment. am i still infectious and did i get retested too early?

You tested too soon after treatment. The RPR titres will decrease over months to years. A treponemal antibody test may remain positive for a long time, may be for the rest of your life. Get HPV, Flu and Covid vaccines. Wish you good health!

First line treatment of choice still is a shot of Benzathene Penicillin 2.4 million unit just once.Doxycycline can be used in those who cant take Penicillin due to allergy or some other region.Dose of Doxycycline is 100mgm twice a day for two weeks.You were retested too early as it takes several months for RPR level to come down. Actually titer ma go up two weeks after therapy.Repeat at Six months
