A member asked:

I've been spotting for 5 days (brown type) with cramps similar to what i normally have for a period and my period is due. i don't spot normally before my period and definitely not pregnant nor am i on birth control. should i be worried?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If pregnancy is not possible, with stress (Covid-19, emotional, job, school) , ovulation can be delayed, allowing continued estrogen to be stimulating the endometrial lining, and late ovulation, with drop in estrogen from a higher level than normal, spotting can occur due to endometrial source of light bleeding (brown). Your period should occur either very soon or in 14 days.
