A member asked:

My friend has question that if sperm is deposited at the top edges of vagina so can it cause pregnancy later at some time i.e after 10-20 days?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Sperm survive in a healthy state up to ~5 days. In that time frame they transit the vagina to enter the cervix/womb & travel to the Fallopian tubes where they can encounter & fertilize an egg. If they do not start that trip in time, they deteriorate/die. Fertilization as long as 5 days after intercourse is possible/10 or more = not.
