I have irregular menstrual periods. my cycle is never consistent. ive been off birth control for over two years now. sometimes i dont get a period for months and some months i just get spotting and cramping or i bleed heavy with cramps and clotting?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Oligomenorrhea ?: Infrequent menstruation at age 33 as described with occasional spotting, and heavy bleeding/cramps/clotting may represent polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). See your gyn physician for an exam and testing (ultrasound) to establish diagnosis. Treatment for PCOS is low dose oral bcps, which stop ovarian activity, and eliminate risk of later abnormal cells in uterine lining.
