A member asked:

I'm hpv free now. had type6. but my girlfriend still have hpv. can infected with hpv type6 again? and can take type6 from other people? i wonder have immune for all type6 virus or just for my girlfriend's type6 virus?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Basics: Once your system has cleared a strain of HPV you are immune from that strain. It may remain in a dormant/not contagious state in your body. You don't risk re-infection from that strain but it can rarely re-activate near its original site.
