A member asked:

Does the hpv type change when passing to the partner(for example my type 6 can be type 16 while passing to her?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Strains don't change: Strains of HPV do not change any more than you would change into another person. If they pass to another person as an infection they remain the same. If your partner acquired type 16 & you don't have it they got it from another source. People do not always pass it to their partner if the initial infectious phase has cleared.( usually within 2 yrs)
