Very heavy period with large blood clots. first time so many clots have appeared. have been vegan for 1 year and vegetarian for few years before that. studying at university and keep as fit as possible. not taking contraception. thanks for any answer?

If irregular : periods, this is related to irregular ovulation and thickened uterine lining. If regular cycles, could uterine polyps or fibroids. An exam and ultrasound with your doctor would be appropriate, particularly if bleeding continues or recurs monthly at this level.

Iron supplements: You should take oral iron and multivitamins to prevent anemia. If you continue to have excessive blood loss from periods, you should consider taking a type of birth control pill that can limit the frequency of your periods to once a year. Talk to your gynecologist. Get HPV vaccine. Wish you good health!
