A member asked:

What the chance of catching syphilis if you had sex once assuming the person have syphilis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Play it safe: There is no way to tell one's chance of catching it during one "encounter." Syphilis is a bacteria spread from one person to another. Each infected person's contagiousness varies during the timeline of her infection, and from other people's. Each person's version of "having sex" varies from time to time, and from other people's. No way to predict the outcome for one individual person in one event.
