Hi , i am 16 years old .. i am on birth control specially an iud and i know its supposed to stop my period but it hasnt stopped since i got it which was last december. but i have missed my period by 5 days . should i be alarmed ??

Hormonal IUD?: If the iUD was a hormonal one like Mirena, periods often are arrested or minimal. However, please check and see if you can feel the IUD string in the cervix to be certain that it is in the correct place. If you are sexually active, run a pregnancy test. If the IUD is not hormonal or the string is not palpable or the pregnancy test is inconclusive see your GYN MD to check IUD placement now.
