Yeast infection?: One of the main causes of vaginal itching is genital candida (yeast) , which indeed is a "minor viral infection". Yeasts are normal in the vagina and someimes overgrow or allergy develops to them, causing symptoms. Many or most women experience yeast symptoms from time to time. Speak with your doctor, or try an OTC anti-yeast product with active ingredient ending in "azole" (miconazole & others).

Pardon the error above: "minor fungal [not viral] infection"
