Flu or side effects: Taking a pill an hour early will not have a significant effect. Her other issues could be unrelated to pill or side effects which can include nausea, mood swings, bloating, breast tenderness, and on occasion, headache. These symptoms usually go away in first few weeks. Do not stop taking ocp unless symptoms are severe. Discuss further with prescribing doctor
