Bacterial vaginosis: BV is overgrowth of vaginal bacteria. Whether it's a true STD has been the subject of much research without clear answers yet. Probably it is usually sexually acquired, but not always. It's more common in women at risk for STD and other STDs (gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomonas) often are present at the same time. It causes no symptoms in men. Condoms are good prevention.
