No and yes: You should probably use condoms for at least couple of weeks to be sure the IUD is situated properly. After the body has adjusted to it, pregnancy risk is very low unless you are taking nonsteroidals or certain antibiotics. However, an IUD does NOT protect against any STD's or AIDS. Only condoms can help with this. Together you will have nearly 100% protection against pregnancy.
