Of course, but it...: ...can be a problem that is GI related (e.g. Colonic/ rectal inflammation, mass, rectal/anal dysfunction, colonic dysmotility), parasites but may be extrinsic to the GI tract (dermatologic, bladder, and in women peri-uterine, vaginal). Exam is definitely warranted for diagnosis & appropriate treatment.
