I have a diagnosis of dupuytren's disease (presented after hand broke) and have seen a link between that and alcohol. should i stop permanently?

Depends on quantity: Stopping alcohol consumption will not fix the contracture problems. Newer injected medicines can help dissolve these Webs that limit hand motion. If you drink to the point of losing control, have memory problems, or actions that embarrass you afterward, by all means stop any consumption.
