Not HSV: You heard wrong. No HSV infection, and no individual outbreak of herpes, can cause splenic enlargement. If your spleen indeed is enlarged, you'll need to look elsewhere for causes. Seems to me the main thing is to confirm the possible enlargement. Physical exam alone is unreliable in detecting mild enlargement. You'll need some sort of abdominal imaging (CT scan, ultrasound, etc) if not yet done.
