Yes, rarely: HSV1 sometimes causes a brain infection (encephalitis), usually with seizures, altered consciousness, and/or paralysis, plus fever. HSV2 can cause a kind of meningitis, with headache, stiff neck, sensitivity of eyes to light, and fever. Both complications are rare. Neither virus causes any other kind of brain problem, or neurological symptoms other than these.
